The master plan celebrates the unique history of South Perth with thematic references to the role that the Zoo, the Garden Suburb and public transport have played in shaping South Perth. The CSMS project has the potential to be a transformative project that will see the Mends Street foreshore become the urban heart of South Perth.

iph were involved in conceptual development and focused on realising the giant animal canopies,  a giant numbat and frilled necked lizard formed from plate aluminium and evolved through an origami folding process. The abstract forms provide shelter and a dynamic welcome to South Perth, two figures announcing the new piazza to visitors.
