Over the last 15 years iph architects were engaged to upgrade fatigued multi-storey flats, we actively sought to add value through strategic elements that increase amenity, floor area, improve environmental conditions and provide a sense of value in both the new and old components. As with all multi-owned apartments the mix of owner occupier and owner investor requirements are often in conflict. We saw the opportunity in this to address all owner requirements with solutions that are economical, durable, quick to realise and of a quality that will endure time. The design proposal creates a sense of individual existence with-in a large occupied building, colours alternate on all elevations responding to sun and shade patterns, each internal level is identified through alternating colours. Folded screens provide shading, increase privacy with added complexity of form challenging the static nature of the existing building.
