The South Perth Residence partners with the Nannup House, the city residence and the holiday escape. Two experiences are developed, a platform that maintains an elevated position (large and distant views) and a stepped sequence of rooms following the natural site levels (intimate and detailed views).
Materials are tactile, traditional, recycled and delightful. The house sits on a podium of natural limestone block, supported by reconstituted limestone retaining walls. White painted rendered walls contrast with the naturally weathering limestone. Rusting ornate panels challenge traditional building materials and details. Tiles act as thresholds between interior and exterior. Pocket voids create interconnection between upper and lower levels.
