picasso house

The Picasso House evolved from the exploration of squeezing 3 levels in to a roof space. Subtle shifts exploring interior space in section and plan combined with carving and extruding surface resulted in the cubist exterior language. Picasso house was named by our client.

The site is hidden down a laneway behind large multi-residential apartments, fragments of view can be seen from the upper level attic space, the house emerges from the suffocating site allowing one to breathe.

This house later influenced the Swan Street Residence and CASA31_4 Room House.
