pingelly recreation and cultural centre wins international award

iredale pedersen hook architects and Advanced Timber Constructions Studio are proud to announce that the recently completed Pingelly Recreation and Cultural Centre in Pingelly (PRACC) has won the World Architecture Festival, 2019 Overall Winner in the Use of Certified Timber Prize.

The World Architecture Festival is the largest and most prestigious Architecture Festival in the world. It commenced in 2008 and requires architects to present to juries over a three-day period hosted this year in Amsterdam. Over 1100 submitted projects were shortlisted to 300 with all built projects in 17 categories being eligible for the Use of Certified Timber Prize. PRACC was selected as the overall winner for 2019. 60 Australian Practices were shortlisted with iph architects and ATC Studio being the only Overall Award Winner.

The jury said they were “impressed with the efficient and durable timber detailing, which delivers comfort and affordability for present and future users”.

Earlier this year PRACC won the Architecture of Necessity Awards curated through Virserum Konsthall in Sweden. PRACC was also shortlisted for five 2019 Australian Timber Design Awards and won Excellence in the use of Timber Products- Recycled Flooring, Imported Timber and the Merit Award for Innovative Structural Design.
