Revisiting Hans Scharoun after 30 years of research
Adrian Iredale- iredale pedersen hook architects
In 1997 Adrian Iredale presented a talk on the German architect, Hans Scharoun at the Red Studio in Perth.
This invitation came after an intensive 3 year study tour of Hans Scharoun’s projects in Germany and Poland and the culmination of research that began in 1987.
The talk was reviewed by Kate Hislop for Architecture Australia July 1997 issue.
Twenty years is a long time to reflect on the work of Scharoun, this talk will attempt to not only present the work of Scharoun to an old and new audience but to unravel historical myths and situate it within the contemporary world of design.
This talk will be dedicated to the late Professor Peter Blundell Jones, Peter not only revealed Hans Scharoun to the English speaking world but continued to explore the diversity of modernism and fight for the marginalised and historically overlooked figures of Modernism.
